Days out in Cornwall

Cornwall has many attractions and being located mid way between the north and south coast with easy access to the A30 you have a perfect base at Rosewyn for a great day out.

Remember that in the height of the season you are not alone so the roads will get busy and the car parks will fill.  Make an early start or perhaps go later in the day.

Truro is the nearest city and has a good park and ride system.  The Cathedral is well worth a visit as is the Hall for Cornwall. If you do book tickets for the Hall for Cornwall do not use the park and rise as it closes at 8.00pm.

St Ives Holidays Cornwall

St Ives

If you do any day trip then do this one!  Renowned for having perfect light that has attracted artists always. Our advice to avoid the stress of driving and instead take the branch line train from St Erth, the train ride alone is beautiful.  Directly accessible from the A30 at Hayle the South Car Park is large and has direct access to the platform, where in the summer a ticket inspector will sell you a car park and train ticket.

Lanhydrock - National Trust

Lanhydrock

Just 13 miles east on the A30 and you will find the jewel in the crown of The National Trust.  A truly magnificent house and large grounds with plenty of walking and cycle tracks.

Our favourite ad-on again involves trains!  Check out the Bodmin and Wenford Railway for a steam, or diesel ride from Bodmin parkway (access to Lanhydrock) through to Bodmin and on to Boscarne Junction.

The Eden Project Cornwall

The Eden Project

10 miles away is the unique Eden Project, using their own words:- "Our home in Cornwall used to be a barren landscape – a former clay mine with no soil or plants. We transformed this huge crater into a beautiful global garden, which sets the stage for an extraordinary day out where you’ll rediscover the natural world as you've never experienced it before." Wander through gardens inspired by different landscapes across the world, also home to The Eden Sessions!

Falmouth Cornwall

Falmouth

Renowned for sailing, the university and it’s docks. Falmouth is a vibrant town with lots of cafes, restaurants and independant shops. You can learn to paddle board from the watersport centre on Gylly Beach or catch the boat across the river to St Mawes. Nearby there are lots of lovely gardens such as Trebah and The National Trust’s Glendurgan and Trelissick.

The Lost Gardens of Heligan

The famous Lost Gardens of Heligan is a stunning tropical garden near St Austell. Wander the glorious grounds, explore their wonderful farm shop and cross the tropical garden. In the winter they hold spectacular light displays throughout the gardens.

The Minack & Porthcurno

A day down west to explore the incredible beaches, discover the Minack Theatre and it’s incredible view over Porthcurno, Pedn Vowder and Logan’s Rock. Tie it in with a trip around the coast discovering Sennen and Zennor or make a stop on the way to visit the spectacular St Michaels Mount.

Whatever you choose to do on your holiday in Cornwall we hope you have a wonderful time!
